The first month of the year – where everything seems fresh and exciting! January was busy for me, tidying up business stuff after 2015 and trying to work ahead on some projects. As always, an interesting variety of projects and personal moments posted throughout the month to my Instagram account.
Left to right / top to bottom: First workday of 2016 / Gold calligraphy ink for custom baby shower invitations / Selfish screen printing of thank you notes / Mini cards and a little giveaway / Morning glory / Restocking tea towls in my Etsy shop / New Valentines Day cards in my Etsy shop / Restocking some popular notecards / Outing to a marine center in the North Bay Area
With the busy holiday season, I spent a lot of time working on stock to sell in person at craft fairs. Towards the end of the month, other work took over, then I enjoyed the holidays. Here are a few pictures from throughout the month.
Left to right / top to bottom: Selfish screen printing while working on stock for holiday craft fairs / Flamingo themed baby shower decor / Football themed co-ed baby shower decor / Two of three colors screen printed on our Christmas cards
The theme this month was definitely screen printing, in order to get stock ready for the holiday season and craft fairs. As always, there were some great non-work moments and personal projects.
Top to bottom, left to right: Screen printing tea towels / Screen printing gift tags / Visiting the zoo with a little friend / Holiday craft fair / Screen printing holiday cards / Sewing (but, really, it’s always about the cat) / Live music – Sturgill Simpson at the Fox Theatre, Oakland / Meeting a new little guy / Screen printing baby bodysuits
Not a dull moment this month, everywhere from San Francisco to Portland and freelance illustration to wedding photography. It was busy, but always nice to have the variety of work to dive into.
Top to bottom, left to right: Screen printing holiday cards for my Etsy shop / Celebrating four years of marriage / Sunset from airplane windows / Stumptown Coffee in Portland, OR / Ferry Building in San Francisco, CA / Night lights after freelancing in San Francisco, CA / Sewing! / Growing! (Both edibles and pretty flowers) / Last wedding of the season at a winery in Fairfield, CA
Again, another month full of so many different types of projects, which is always good to keep my creativity fresh. My business and creative interests bring so many different things my way and I appreciate how they inspire one another and keep me interested by using different mediums.
Left to right / top to bottom: Wedding second shooting in Santa Rosa, CA / Maternity session with close friends / Calligraphy table numbers for a wedding / Custom painting for a wedding / Custom thank you notes for my photography clients / Fun new screen printed cards for my Etsy shop / Vegas visit to the Neon Museum / Fresh art supplies / Wood burning artwork
One of the coolest things I’ve seen in a long time – I got to visit the Neon Museum in Las Vegas. I went with my husband while he was attending a work conference and took some time to relax on my own. At the museum, there are a handful of signs that are fully refurbished and in working order, but most are still in the condition they were when they were taken off the strip. So fascinating to see artwork in another form!
Looking back on August with photos from Instagram for the month. A few new places and a bunch of different projects throughout the month.
Left to right / top to bottom: Newborn photo session / Visit to the Oregon coast / Visit to the Oregon coast / Wedding second-shooting in Oregon / Mendocino coast visit / Glass beach on the Mendocino coast / Design freelance in San Francisco / Seeing my favorite play (again) / Sewing for a friend’s daughter
A trip to Oregon to second-shoot a wedding and visit friends makes for a good time. We got to visit the Oregon coast in all its fog-hidden glory and I couldn’t have been happier taking it all in. Here are just a few photos I took on my phone. (The best camera is always the one you have with you.)
More Instagram photos for the July recap! Looking back, it appears that I kept pretty busy.
Left to right / top to bottom: Editing (it’s wedding season!) / Sewing with the best fabric motif ever (still unfinished due to fitting issues) / Baby photo session / Wedding photography in Escalon, CA / Screen printing in progress / Finished screen printed cards in my Etsy shop / Vacation near Lake Tahoe, CA / Heat wave casualty / In-progress screen printing
It’s no surprise that I’m a big fan of Instagram, since photos are one of my main art forms. Day-to-day glimpses into my work, workspace and life are recorded there. I thought it might be fun to start doing a recap for each month of Instagram photos, including some of my favorite moments as a more personal look into what my world looks like. I hope you enjoy!
