One of my favorite things is to bring a client’s vision to life, to discuss their ideas and then develop designs based only on their ideas. It often will challenge me to produce something that is not my normal style and I really enjoy being stretched creatively. For this bridal shower, the host wanted a theme that is a bit more formal, and simple without being bland. Cream, taupe and rose create an elegant color palette that is enlivened by a geometric design motif. A touch of gold calligraphy ink finishes the set perfectly.

Calligraphy has always been beautiful to me, but it seemed a little too formal, too aloof. In the past couple years, a new style being called “modern calligraphy” has started to make its way into invitation design. I was intrigued from the very beginning and finally decided to take the plunge and learn the skill and make it my own. I’m now proud to offer this as an additional service. Samples I’ve completed are below, I’m looking forward to tackling more extravagant projects as my skills strengthen in the future.

Always a pleasure and challenge to design for people I know, mixing something from their personality into the invitations. This was no different, and I was so happy with the final set that went into the mail. So excited to welcome a sister-in-law into the family!

The artwork inspiration for these screen printed invitations reflects the bride-to-be’s appreciation of pin-up artwork, which turned out to be a fun theme for a bridal shower.
Her absolute favorite color is pink, so I decided to turn it up a notch – to some nice fluorescent pink. An equally awesome color had to be found to hold up to such a hot color, so I chose to balance it with metallic gold. Even the envelopes sported a little bit of fanciness, hand-written calligraphy in gold ink.

Now that these are in the mail & the bride-to-be received her invitation, I can share them here! I enjoy sending surprises out in the mail, it’s so exciting!
I am so happy with how this card turn out, both the design and the ink colors. It’s always fun (and a great creative challenge) to design something for someone that I know, trying to capture their personality and preferences. For this invitation, I did a modern take on a bridal shower invitation, plenty of hearts to give a nod to the reason we’re celebrating, but in a more mature color theme and design. Keep an eye out for the matching party decor after the event.

A very fun invitation to print. The ink colors came out great & very vivid. It was fun to find a unique design to match the bride-to-be’s personality. I also got to teach some friends how to screen print while working on this project. Keep an eye out for pictures of all the matching party decorations in the future.
