This family photo session happened during the holidays and was the best way to end my photography for the year. The locations we visited were great and were great backgrounds, but this family is what made the shoot for me. Each one of them is silly, fun and at ease in front of the camera! You can really feel their connection just by spending time with them and hopefully through these photos too. Enjoy!
(These two – recently engaged and I got to see the coolest photo of the proposal, which he caught with a self timer during a time lapse image. So, so cool.)

What a wedding! Anastasia and Ben chose San Francisco for their destination wedding (traveling all the way from Australia), telling me they had always wanted to visit this area. That is such a special way to see a city and celebrate such an important event at the same time. They chose San Francisco City Hall for their ceremony, which is an absolutely beautiful building, with a reception at the Marines Memorial Club. Everyone involved was so excited to celebrate the bride and groom on their wedding day and it was a pleasure to spend a day among such sweet people.

This was my first time meeting this little girl after doing maternity photos with her mom and dad. It really was such a great time spent with this family of three and getting to know this spunky, fun little lady. Happy One-Year birthday!

I’ve known Anna for years, and we’ve discussed collaborating on projects for our small businesses. Little did we know that our first photo session together would be for maternity photos! Believe me, this girl is so stylish, I was giddy at the chance to get her in front of my camera, and Randy is pretty awesome as well to join in the fun. Our plan was to walk around their neighborhood for their photos, and it was a great idea! We found so many perfect little spots and ended up with a great variety of locations in their photos (which is maybe why I had a hard time choosing my favorites).
Their current little “only child,” Jack, joined us for a few photos as well.

With an engagement shoot being so fun, I was looking forward to Brianna and Arnott’s wedding day. Their special day was full of so many personal touches and sweet surprises that both the bride and the groom planned for one another. It was a real treat to capture this day as it unfolded. Both are very caring towards one another, but also towards every person in their bridal party and their family and guests. Congratulations to you both!
The couple wrote their own vows, with Brianna’s being just a little bit longer than Arnott’s.
The groom’s sister asked the newlyweds to play a little game during her speech, seeing if they answered questions about his/her habits the same way. Needless to say, it inspired a lot of laughter.
Arnott surprised Brianna by learning to play guitar, then playing the song from their first dance. He finished up with a rap he wrote about the two of them and their bridal party.

Lisa and Kurt decided to come to California to share their vows with one another. Their intimate wedding took place on a beautiful spring day in the Livermore wine valley, amidst family and friends who joined them on their special day. As soon as I arrived on site, I enjoyed the relaxed energy and every lovely detail included in the day. I also loved their color scheme with lots of purple – my favorite color (the bride even chose a purple dress)!
All three of us went into the pool for a few fun photos at the end of the night. I was game, since it meant some fun images for the bride and groom!

The Google I/O Conference is a great event for developers. Beyond the conference sessions, there are many other events that are more social, serving as meet-and-greet events for conference guests. I was invited to cover the Google UX team’s happy hour event, hosted at 111 Minna Gallery. This is the second year I’ve captured this event and I was excited to go back. Guests were having a great time, connecting and catching up. Bright colors, emoticons and buttons were all part of this year’s theme, giving the event a fun, light-hearted feeling.

When I got in contact with Morgan and Mike about their upcoming wedding at San Francisco City Hall, I got really excited. I’ve been wanting to photograph a wedding at this venue ever since I had first considered photographing weddings, the building is beautiful. It doesn’t get any better than this – because these two are so easy to spend time with. And they were excited about the venue too, and taking photos at some picturesque locations around the city. Congratulations to you both!
Keep an eye out for the celebration with friends and family, which I’ll be attending in a couple weeks. Looking forward to spending more time with this couple!

I don’t mention it much on my blog, but my last corporate job was in the production department at an advertising agency. During my years there, I learned so much, got my hands onto so many new projects and worked on some big name clients. More importantly, I worked with some great people.
One of those people was Andy. Although he was in a different department, everyone at the company knew each other. This is one cool guy, and I always enjoyed talking photography with him. He’s got great technical skills and has so much knowledge about gear. As I was pursuing photography on the side, he and I would chat about lenses, light and experience.
I still return occasionally to help out doing freelance work and am happy to be called a “friend of the agency.” When Andy asked me to take some headshots for him during one of those stints, I agreed, but was definitely nervous, considering his knowledge. We headed up to the rooftop and had a quick photo session. Pretty sure I caught his best side.

Almost a year later, but the photos are still so beautiful! I’ve always wanted to shoot at the Brazil Room in Tilden Park and finally had the chance! Nearby, the botanical gardens are the perfect place to wander and take wedding photos. This wedding was nothing short of awesome, with the sweetest bride and the nicest groom to work with. Emily & Marc were as much fun on their wedding day as they were at their engagement shoot, two fun people seriously in love. From the first look at an overlook of the entire Bay Area, to the traditional Greek dancing, the whole day was great. As always, many thanks to Renee of Renascent Photography for having me along as her second shooter.
