Launching a new business is exciting and I’m always honored to design a custom look and feel. For this data visualization company, I was given a color palette and direction to make a look that was “fresh and fun” while still being appropriate for the tech sector. After pencil sketches and a first round of options, one design stood out as the clear solution. Below are the three final versions.
Faye Champlin Studio / New Thank You Cards!
There are so many different creative outlets that I enjoy, some are work-related and others personal pursuits. I am always looking for new ways to combine ideas to make something new or completely custom to fit a need. Although I’ve always had custom designed branding for my business, I’ve wanted to incorporate a handmade touch as well. I finally decided to design myself some new thank you cards, completely for my business. They combine illustration, design and screen printing to make something special to send to my clients. I’m excited to be sending these out!

As usual, when I have a design project for a new business starting up, I really enjoy the process of starting from scratch. It’s always a pleasure take a client’s thoughts and bring those ideas into a visual identity. For Keep Safe Productions, we actually decided to go with a black and white only design. It felt like the right fit for this design, while lending itself to all the final uses that the business owner will need as the business grows. Another issue that came up was the need for two different shaped logos, so I ended up designing two logo variations.

I always really enjoy working with friends on their own small businesses, especially when it’s branding. After discussing ideas and what they envision, I get to bring the ideas to life and come up with something solid. Plaid Love Threads is a company selling hand-embroidered gifts and items for the home. After choosing a design, the owner chose a color palette that is often seen in plaid, so that she could coordinate her packaging easier. The end result is so much fun and a perfect fit- and this is the reason collaboration is good!
Since it’s such a good match, I requested that last photo above from the owner to showcase the packaging and her beautiful work!

When I get asked to work on a project with creative elements I’ve been wanting to try, I get very excited. Then I get to work. I’ve worked with this lovely lady before and she wanted a custom hand drawn Christmas card to send out this year. I’ve been wanting to make something in this style for quite some time, so I was happy to get to work, starting with a Sharpie and my sketchbook. Mix my drawings with their photo and we had one great card!
